Who Am I?

I started my journey as an undergraduate at Cal State Long Beach and completed my studies in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010 at the University of Phoenix. Everyone deals with their own struggles in life and mine led me on this path of helping others.

I’m a firm believer that personal growth is a lifelong journey and I’m passionate about helping others that are ready to start that process and share the knowledge and experience that I have learned along the way. I use evidence-based treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients manage thoughts, feelings, and responses.

I also use Solution Focused, Narrative, Mindfulness, Humanistic, and Gestalt Therapy to help connect with clients. My approach is eclectic. It is designed to help meet people where they are and to help uncover hidden blocks that may minimize growth and foster fear. I help my clients with techniques that foster awareness and personal development while being able to remain present to challenge automatic negative thoughts that may inhibit personal growth.

My experience:

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working with individuals and couples for 10 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at California State University Long Beach and the University of Phoenix, then completed my Graduate work and earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I have worked in various community agencies such as the Salvation Army, Watts Counseling Center at Kaiser Permanente, and Life Services for Teens, allowing me to gain experience with substance abuse, couples counseling, infertility issues, depression, anxiety, abortion, grief, and loss.

My approach:

I strive to foster a safe space where my clients can tell their stories, gain insight into how that has impacted them, acknowledge the various unique contexts which impact their lives, connect with their strengths, and learn new ways to strive toward wholeness and personal growth. I utilize various therapeutic approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, Gestalt therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. It is not all about what goes on inside the sessions. I also encourage my clients to pursue a holistic approach to mental health, incorporating exercise, proper sleep, nutrition, and self-care with activities they enjoy. I believe my clients hold the answers within them and with help will find a deeper awareness of self that will propel them onto a path of healing, growth, and self-actualization.
